First Essay~Letter to host family~

Dear host family,

Hello! My name is Hikari. I live in Kumamoto, Japan. I’m a college student. I go to KGU. I’m in the Foreign Language Department at the university. I study English, theory of intercultural understanding, German, and other subjects.

I have two hobbies. One of my hobbies is listening to music. I like J-pop and K-pop. I like AKB48, ARASHI and KARA very much. They are popular groups in Japan. Do you know them? I also like to sing. I often go to karaoke with my friends. I enjoy singing and giving vent to my stress there.

The other is playing basketball. I am good at playing basketball because I was in the basketball club until I was a high school student. I sometimes play basketball with my friends at a gym. When I come over to your place, let’s play basketball together!

I write about my everyday life. I usually go to school and take lessons. I work part-time after school and on holidays. I work at a family restaurant as a waitress. My work is very hard, but I think this work is worth doing. I like to go shopping on a holiday. I often buy clothes or sundry goods. I want to go shopping with you! Also, I sometimes help my grandfather on a holiday, because my grandfather works on a farm, and I help to grow vegetables and fruits.

I want to try three things this year. First, I want to try to get a car license. I want to go to a driving school. If I get a car license, I want to go for a drive.

Second, I try to save money. I save money, and I earmark the money for buying a car or a long-sleeved kimono.

Lastly, I want to improve English ability. I study hard every day, and I try the TOIEC and Eiken. I’m not good at speaking English, but I will do my best. I’m looking forward to meeting you. See you!
